OCR: ZORA ARKUS-DUNTOV { Harley Earl is the father of the Corvette, Zora Arkus Duntov is its "godfather." Zora was the original chief engineer of the Cor- vette, but he also played an im- portant role in bringing high per- formance to all of Chevrolet. When Zora joined GM in 1953. he brought remarkable skills. In December 1953, he penned a memo to his superiors at Chev. rolet titled "Thoughts Pertaining to Youth, Hot Rodders, and Chev- rolet." It said that GM needed to break Ford's monopoly on hot rods by developing their own high- performance parts. Among Dun- tov's long list of unmatched con- tributions to the Corvette are the fuel-injection system, the Duntov cam and four wheel disc brakes
